Have you seen Hope King's/Second Grade Shenanigans awesome measurement packet...The Measurement Playbook?? Love it! I am definitely a fan! It came at the perfect time for my class.
One of her activities is designing a football field for the 2014 Superbowl. How cool! With 21 boys in the class and many sports fan, this was perfect activity. Many of my boys are hockey fans... to the point we have daily discussions about Wayne Gretzky and the Detroit Red Wings...so when I told them what their project was they quickly asked "Can't we make a hockey rink?" So our project turned into designing a football or hockey rink while working on our measuring and identifying perimeter skills.

Also I don't know about any of you fabulous bloggers but February has seemed to put many (myself included) in a rut. Well today I heard the best advice ever from one of my students.
As many students were complaining (surprise, surprise) He tells them, "Any day you wake up is a good day." I couldn't help but smile because I needed to hear that. It makes me proud that I am surround by seven year olds that think that.

One of the completed hockey rinks. They even build a roof to put over it. You can't see the details very well but this group build goals and hockey players.
