Second Grade Craziness & Must Reads

If you haven't read Alisha at The Bubbly Blonde posts lately it is a MUST check out. Her friend Tiffany has been diagnosed with cancer and as a way to help her friend in need a bunch of bloggers have donated their packets for everyone who is willing to make a $20 donation to help Tiffany and her family out.

You can check out the story, where to donate, and all the donated products at Alisha's blog.

Also Holly at Crisscross Applesauce in First Grade (with a bunch of other amazing bloggers) are having a Write Stuff Giveaway to win some amazing writing units that are perfect for all classrooms.

Please go check it out!

I wanted to share some funny happenings from this week as well with thirty students you would think it would be the students making the big messes but this week it was +2 for the teachers.

It started with our bread baking experience. Did you know powdered sugar doesn't work to make bread?? Haha! My co-teacher had a mix up and measured out 6 cups of powdered sugar instead of flour. It was quite the surprise when the students started adding water. Luckily it was easily fixable and has brought some great laughs this week.

Thankful the bread turned out to be delicious!!

Then in science to continue our work on the scientific method we tested out how craters are formed using flour and baking cocoa. While gathering supplies I dropped the opened container of baking cocoa and had a third of it on the carpet. Once again the experiment worked out really well. Only a little flour and cocoa splatter on desktops, but easy enough to clean up.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
